Aadhaar Card Update- Big news for Aadhaar Card holders. Have you ever looked at your Aadhaar card carefully? Sometimes the name is slightly misspelled. It matters when the bank transaction gets stuck, you don’t get a SIM card, or the form for a government scheme gets rejected. This seemingly minor mistake actually becomes a big hindrance, especially when the name in Aadhaar doesn’t match your PAN card, passport or visa document.
The good news is that now UIDAI has found an easy solution to this. Now you can correct the spelling of your name in your Aadhaar card from the comfort of your home, that too without going to any centre or standing in a queue. Earlier, if the name was spelled wrong in Aadhaar, you had to go to the Aadhaar center. But not anymore. UIDAI has made this process completely online from July 2025. Now you just need to have a mobile number linked to Aadhaar, a document with the correct name like PAN card, passport or voter ID. The rest of the work will be done on the mobile in a few minutes.
Correct your name online like this way
- Go to My Aadhaar portal and log in with Aadhaar number + OTP.
- Click on “Update Aadhaar Online”, then select “Name Correction”.
- Type the correct name and upload the scan of the document.
- Pay the charge of Rs 50 – Rs 100 online and save the URN (Update Request Number).
- After 2–3 days you will be able to download the new Aadhaar.
- If you have tried to correct your name earlier and it was rejected, you can try again now. But keep in mind that
- the documents should be absolutely clear and approved by UIDAI.
What updates can be made?
By visiting the “My Aadhaar” portal, you can update not only your name but also information like address, mobile number, date of birth. And yes, there is no need to stand in line for this. If even one spelling of the name is wrong, then there can be problems in participating in banking and government schemes. There can be problems like problems in opening a bank account or in transactions, KYC failure, PAN and passport not being linked, documents not matching while applying for visa, form rejection in government schemes.
