BJP’s Rekha Gupta is now CM of Delhi. Rekha Gupta is making a bold promise to women ahead of her swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Delhi. She’s set to take the oath on Thursday and has stated that her government will deliver on the commitment of providing Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women.
On Wednesday, she was unanimously chosen as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party. She announced that the first payment of this monthly support will hit women’s accounts by March 8. The BJP’s election manifesto had pledged to increase the monthly assistance beyond Rs 2,100 if they won. Criticizing the previous AAP government, Rekha Gupta remarked, “They will have to justify every rupee to the public.” Before her oath-taking at Ramlila Maidan, she paid a visit to the Shri Marghat Wal Hanuman Temple at Kashmiri Gate.
She added, “It’s the duty of the 48 BJP MLAs in the capital to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. We will keep all our promises, including the financial aid for women. The funds will be transferred to women’s accounts by March 8.”
March 8 is also International Women’s Day. According to a notification from the Union Home Ministry, BJP MLAs Parvesh Saheb Singh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Singh will join Gupta’s cabinet.
Before taking his oath, Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra chatted with reporters, saying that the BJP government in Delhi is all set to bring Prime Minister Modi’s vision for the city to life. Meanwhile, BJP MLA Pankaj Singh mentioned, “The party has chosen me to be a minister. I’m committed to fulfilling my responsibilities well. I’m here to serve the people.”
