Central Government: The Modi government has taken strict measures against cyber crimes and fraud. More than 7.8 lakh fake and suspicious SIM cards have been blocked till February 2025, apart from this, more than 3,000 Skype IDs and more than 83,000 WhatsApp accounts have also been closed. The government aims to control online fraud and cyber crimes. In this strict action, mobile devices have also been monitored closely, and 2,08,469 IMEI numbers identified by the police have been blocked. IMEI is the unique code of every mobile phone, and this has deactivated the devices associated with online crimes.

I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center), an agency working under the Ministry of Home Affairs to deal with cyber crimes, has also taken strict action against fraud on digital platforms. The agency blocked 3,962 Skype IDs and 83,668 WhatsApp accounts, which were being used for cyber crimes.
