Bullet Train India- India’s first high-speed bullet train will be operational by mid-2027, said Integral Coach Factory (ICF) General Manager U Subba Rao. The final phase of work on the coaches is underway at BEML Limited’s Bengaluru Rail Coach Complex.
The bullet train is expected to run at a speed of 250 kmph between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Last year, BEML Limited was awarded the contract for the eight-coach high-speed bullet train. The contract was awarded to Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
Discussions are being held with the design consultant every week. The airtightness of the coach, which is being built using advanced technology, is very important. ICF General Manager U Subba Rao also said that an order has been placed for the propulsion system. Officials believe that ICF will be ready to build more high-speed trains if required.
Here are some important details:
The bullet train will have modern travel amenities, including swivel seats and infotainment systems, suitable for daytime travel.
The train will be fully air-conditioned.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will have a total length of 508 km.
A 21-kilometer section of the high-speed rail corridor will be underground.
The train will pass through a seven-kilometer coastal tunnel and a five-kilometer mountain tunnel.
The maximum speed of India’s first bullet train corridor will be 320 km/h.
The 508-km-long line will pass through 12 stations including Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi in Gujarat and Boisar, Virar, Thane and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
According to the corridor plan, the travel time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is two hours and 58 minutes.
The stations included in the bullet train project will have facilities such as spacious seating, clear signage, high-quality restrooms, nurseries, and baggage lockers.
The construction of the flyover has been completed
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had earlier announced that 300 km of viaducts (long overpasses) have been completed for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. Following this, the company has informed about the construction progress. The minister also shared a video of the superstructure being constructed using the full span launching method on social media. This is the first time that the latest technology, FSLM, is being used in India.
