BSNL 5G Testing Begins: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, India’s state-owned telecom provider, is now testing its 5G network infrastructure. Many towns, including Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Kolkata, Patna, Hyderabad, Chennai, and many more, have activated 5G tower sites. A Business Standard report claims that these are primarily 4G sites that are a part of the 1 lakh 4G towers that have been installed. According to BSNL officials, these locations would eventually get 5G upgrades.
BSNL 5G service will start soon
The report claims that within the next three months, BSNL will publicly launch 5G services. In meantime, BSNL’s stronghold areas are going through network testing. New base transceiver stations (BTS) are also being installed in places like Kanpur, Pune, Vijayawada, Coimbatore, and Kollam, said BSNL officials.
By June 2025, 4G towers will be active.
By June 2025, BSNL’s one lakh 4G towers will be completely working, per a March 7, 2025, Telecom Talk story. These towers are going to be upgraded to 5G after being constructed using domestic technology. This was also confirmed by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. In this sense, the debut of BSNL’s 4G and later 5G is now only a few months away.

- Customer complaints will be handled faster.

Swadeshi 4G and 5G are featured
In April, BSNL announced that it would gather customer input via an array of channels, including its website, social media accounts, customer discussions, and direct outreach. Robert J. Ravi, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BSNL, will personally consider this suggestion.
Every customer’s voice is connected to BSNL’s journey,” Ravi stated. In India, we are the only telecom company to introduce Swadeshi 4G. We are advancing with strength, speed, and service to achieve “Viksit Bharat’s” digital mission. This BSNL project is an important step in improving India’s digital capabilities. In the coming months, it is expected that BSNL’s 4G and 5G services would be available national.
