Ration Card Update: Big relief for Ration Card holders. The Food and Consumer Protection Department of the Bihar Government has announced an extension for the deadline concerning ration card holders. This change will greatly benefit those holding ration cards. Previously, the deadline for Aadhaar seeding was set for March 31, but it has now been pushed back to June 30, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, under the National Food Security Act of 2013, Aadhaar seeding was initially required by March 31, 2025, for all individuals listed on the ration cards within the Targeted Public Distribution System. The Government of India has now extended this requirement until June 30, 2025.

The Food and Consumer Protection Department has shared this important information and urged all ration card holders to ensure that Aadhaar seeding for every individual listed on their ration card is completed by June 30, 2025. Ration card holders can take advantage of free Aadhaar seeding (eKYC) services available through EPOS machines at any Targeted Public Distribution System vendor shop.

It is important to note that if Aadhaar seeding for any member listed on a ration card is not completed by June 30, 2025, their names will be removed from the ration card effective July 1, 2025, and the family will no longer receive food grain benefits for those members.

Previously, ration shops offered e-KYC services through POS machines, but many individuals encountered difficulties with this process. As a result, the department introduced facial e-KYC. Despite this improvement, over 1.5 crore people have still not completed their e-KYC. The government’s goal is to ensure that only eligible individuals receive rations, making e-KYC a crucial step.

Here are the options for completing your e-KYC:

1. Visit any ration shop to complete Aadhaar seeding or e-KYC.

2. You can also take advantage of the facial e-KYC service.

3. If you prefer to handle e-KYC on your own, you can easily do so by downloading the ‘Mera eKYC’ app or the ‘AadhaarFaceRD’ app.
