There is good news for government employees. The central government has made a big decision and announced 30 days of extra leave for them. Union Minister of State for Personnel, Dr. Jitendra Singh, shared this information on Thursday.

According to a PTI report, central government employees get 30 days of earned leave under the service rules. They can use this leave for personal reasons. Dr. Jitendra Singh gave this reply in writing to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

He said that under the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, a central government employee gets 30 days of earned leave, 20 days of half pay leave, 8 days of casual leave, and 2 days of restricted leave every year.

Now You Can Take Leave to Care for Elderly Parents

Dr. Jitendra Singh was asked if there is any special leave for Central Government employees to take care of their elderly parents. He said that employees can use their personal leaves for this purpose. Taking care of elderly parents is also included under personal reasons.

Facilities for Government Employees

Under CGHS, government employees and their family members get cheap medicines and treatment. This CGHS facility is also available after retirement.

Women employees get 6 months of maternity leave, and men get 15 days of paternity leave. After retirement, government employees get gratuity and PF.

Under the New Pension Scheme, a small part of the salary is saved every month, and this is received as pension later.

Let us tell you that the Central Government may soon start the 8th Pay Commission. It is expected to begin from January 1, 2026. If this happens, the salary of employees will increase. The basic salary of level-1 employees may go up from ₹18,000 to ₹51,000. However, no official notice has been given yet.
