Bharat Taxi App Launched: India’s First Cooperative Cab Service Goes Live

Bharat Taxi App Launch 2026: A historic chapter has been added to India’s transportation sector. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the country’s first cooperative cab service, the “Bharat Taxi” app, in New Delhi.

The app is now available for both Android and iPhone users and, since its initial launch, has emerged as a major challenge to other private cab aggregators. Based on the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi,” this service will not only provide affordable travel to passengers but also give drivers full rights and ownership of their work.

Cooperative Model and ‘Zero Commission’ for Drivers

Bharat Taxi’s most revolutionary feature is its cooperative model, which distinguishes it from private companies like Ola and Uber. Drivers are not charged any commission on this platform, meaning the entire payment for the trip is deposited directly into their bank accounts. Drivers are not merely service providers but also stakeholders and owners of the platform.

To empower drivers, they have been made part of this cooperative so they can share in the profits. This model is expected to significantly increase drivers’ income, as they will not have to pay a portion of their wages to the company.

Excellent Features and Metro Tickets

The Bharat Taxi app has been designed with a simple interface for Indian users in mind. The app supports several regional languages, including Hindi, English, Gujarati, and Marathi, eliminating language barriers. Upon opening the app, users are presented with numerous options, including Bharat Bike, Bharat Auto, Cab Economy, and Cab Priority.

A unique feature of this app is that it also allows passengers to book metro tickets, making multi-modal travel even easier. It also offers the ability to save favorite locations, eliminating the need for users to repeatedly enter addresses.

Fares are cheaper than Ola and Uber

Fares have come as a significant relief to travellers, as their rates are significantly lower than those of other major players in the market. Most importantly, the app doesn’t have any surge pricing, meaning you won’t be charged extra during rain, heavy traffic, or peak hours. This allows passengers to access vehicles at pre-determined and affordable rates. Currently, the service is fully operational in Delhi-NCR, and after a successful trial in Rajkot, it plans to expand to other metropolises like Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru soon.

SOS and Live Tracking for Safety

The app incorporates several safety features to ensure the safety of passengers, especially women. A dedicated SOS button is provided within the app, which, with a single click, sends a message for help along with the user’s live location to trusted contacts. Live tracking of the entire journey ensures safety and transparency. The registration process is also very simple, where users can start booking immediately by simply entering their mobile number and verifying it via OTP.
