Bank Holiday: Today, Tuesday, September 23rd, is a bank holiday in Jammu and Kashmir. The state government has declared a holiday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji. Consequently, all banks, government offices, schools, and colleges will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir. However, banking operations will continue as normal in the rest of the state.

Maharaja Hari Singh was the last ruler of Jammu and Kashmir. He was born on September 23, 1895, and ascended the throne in 1925. He was a strong supporter of education and women’s progress and introduced numerous social reforms. He is still remembered with respect and reverence for his vision and modern thinking.

September 29 (Monday): Maha Saptami/Durga Puja in Agartala, Gangtok and Kolkata.

September 30 (Tuesday): Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami in several cities including Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi.
