Bank Holiday: Major news for bank customers. Bank Holiday in March: Today, on 17th March, banks will be closed. As per the RBI’s list of bank holidays, some states in the country will see banks closed on Tuesday. The holiday calendar from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) indicates that these holidays vary by region. This means that while banks will be shut in certain states, operations will continue normally in others. Nevertheless, customers can still access digital services such as net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs, even when banks are closed. However, cheque clearing and counter services will not be available on that day.

Banks will remain closed today

In Imphal, Jammu, and Srinagar, banks will be closed today for Shab-e-Qadr. This day is regarded as very sacred and significant in Islam. Also known as Laylatul Qadr, it is believed that the first verse of the Holy Quran was revealed on this night. This night occurs during the last ten days of Ramadan and is a special time for worship and prayer among Muslims. People engage in prayers throughout the night.

March Bank Holiday List

March 17: Shab-e-Qadr

 

On this day, banks will be closed in Imphal, Jammu, and Srinagar.

 

March 19: Gudi Padwa / Ugadi / Telugu New Year / First day of Navaratri

 

On this day, banks will be closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Srinagar, and Vijayawada.

 

March 20: Eid al-Fitr / Jumat al-Wida

 

Many cities across the country, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kochi, will see banks closed on this day.

 

March 21: Ramadan Eid/Sarhul

 

On this day, banks will be closed in several cities, including Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, and Ranchi.

 

March 22: Sunday

 

As it is Sunday, bank branches nationwide will be closed.

 

 

Holidays at the end of the month

 

Banks will also remain closed in the last week of March due to some major festivals.

 

March 26: Ram Navami

 

Banks will remain closed in many cities including Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Jaipur, Lucknow and Kolkata.

 

27 March : Ram Navami (Chaite Dashain)

 

Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna and Gangtok.

 

31 March: Mahavir Jayanti

 

Banks will be closed in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, and Ranchi. If you have important banking work to attend to, it’s best to check the holiday list in advance. This can help avoid inconvenience caused by bank closures.
