DA Hike : The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the leading authority of the Sikh faith, has announced a significant update for its staff. The organization will be raising the dearness allowance (DA) by 4 percent, effective April 1. This announcement was made by SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami during a religious ceremony in Amritsar. This decision aims to offer some relief to SGPC employees amid rising inflation.

The announcement took place during a religious event at the Gurudwara Shri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in Amritsar. The Akhand Path Sahib Bhog was performed to celebrate the arrival of the new Nanakshahi Samvat 558. Many devotees attended, and the atmosphere was filled with spiritual fervor throughout the gathering.
While addressing the attendees, Dhami expressed that the SGPC has always prioritized the welfare and well-being of its employees. He mentioned that the main duty of employees working in Gurdwaras is to serve the Sangat and uphold the dignity of Sikh institutions. He emphasized that service and discipline are just as crucial as their roles.

In addition, Dhami issued another significant directive for SGPC employees. He announced that all staff members are now required to wear traditional Sikh clothing, specifically kurta-pyjama, while on duty. He stressed that the behavior and attire of everyone serving in Gurudwaras should embody Sikh traditions, which helps preserve the sanctity and respect of the Gurudwaras.
The SGPC president also encouraged employees to start their daily tasks with spiritual discipline. He instructed that all employees should collectively recite the Mool Mantra and chant the “Waheguru” Gurmantra before commencing their duties. He believes this practice not only enhances individual behavior but also reinforces the dignity of the institutions. During the program, the Hazuri Ragi Jatha of Harmandir Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan, led by Bhai Harjeet Singh.
Ardaas was performed by Bhai Prem Singh, while Granthi Singh Sahib Giani Parvinderpal Singh shared spiritual thoughts after the Hukamnama. Several SGPC members, officials, and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion. At the end of the program, prayers were offered for the well-being of humanity, while the Sangat was wished a Happy Nanakshahi New Year.
