So, what exactly is a Virtual Aadhaar ID?
The Virtual ID (VID) is a 16-digit number that you can generate from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website. You can use this ID for e-KYC, opening bank accounts, applying for government services, purchasing insurance, applying for a passport, and more.
Generating your VID from the UIDAI website is easy:
1. Head over to the [UIDAI’s official website](https://uidai.gov.in/).
2. Choose your preferred language, either Hindi or English.
3. Click on the Virtual ID (VID) Generator option in the Aadhaar Services section.
4. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the captcha code.
5. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number; enter that.
6. Your virtual ID will then show up on the screen and will also be sent to you via SMS.
If you don’t have internet access, you can still generate your virtual ID through SMS. Just send a message from your registered mobile number:
