Alert for Aadhaar Card Holders – 2.5 Crore Cards Deactivated – Here’s How to Check Your Status

Aadhaar Card Update: In today’s times, the Aadhaar card has become the most important identity document for every Indian. From opening a bank account to availing government schemes, Aadhaar is required almost everywhere. Therefore, if Aadhaar-related information is incorrect or misused, it directly affects common people. For this reason, the central government has taken an important decision to make the Aadhaar system more secure.

The government has deactivated approximately 2.5 crore Aadhaar cards so far. All these Aadhaar numbers belonged to people who have passed away. Union IT Minister Jitin Prasada gave this information. He stated that currently, approximately 134 crore people in the country are linked to Aadhaar, and the government’s goal is to ensure that every Aadhaar record remains accurate, updated, and reliable.

Why were these Aadhaar cards deactivated?

It has often been observed that the Aadhaar cards of deceased individuals are misused. Some people try to avail of pensions, subsidies, or other government schemes using such Aadhaar numbers. To prevent such fraud, the government has launched a nationwide campaign to verify and clean up Aadhaar data. Under this campaign, Aadhaar cards that no longer have any valid use are being deactivated.

How will this step benefit the common people?

The biggest benefit of this decision will be the prevention of fraud. Now, no one will be able to misuse the Aadhaar card of a deceased person. In addition, the data linked to Aadhaar will be more accurate, making banking, digital payments, and online services more secure than before. This will also strengthen people’s confidence that their identity document is safe.
