The Aadhaar card has become an important identity document for every citizen in the last few years. From small tasks to big ones, everything now requires an Aadhaar card. A big update has now come regarding it.
The government has already said that the Aadhaar card is only an identity certificate, not proof of Indian citizenship. However, a new step is being taken to make Aadhaar even more authentic and secure.
The UIDAI is planning to change the rules for making Aadhaar. This step will help ensure that only verified and real people get an Aadhaar number from the government. Let’s find out what updates are coming in the rules, and how they may make it a bit harder to get a new Aadhaar card.
New Rules for Making Aadhaar
Now, the rules for making Aadhaar cards for adults are going to be stricter than before. As per media reports, documents like the ration card, matriculation certificate, birth certificate, and passport will now be required for Aadhaar verification. This will help reduce the chances of making an Aadhaar using fake documents.
Documents Will Be Strictly Checked
UIDAI has created a new tool to check important documents like PAN card, MNREGA card, driving license, and electricity bill. This full checking process will now be done online. During Aadhaar registration, all documents will be verified twice to ensure everything is correct.
Fake Aadhaar Cards Will Be Blocked
There are more than 140 crore Aadhaar cards in India, and many of them belong to deceased persons. Also, due to the easy process earlier, some illegal migrants were able to get Aadhaar cards using fake documents, and then used them to get other government documents. Now, after the rule changes, it will be very difficult to make an Aadhaar card with false information. State governments have also been told to issue Aadhaar only after full verification.
