Aadhaar Card Update: In the last few years, the use of Aadhaar Cards has increased rapidly. From banking, government schemes, mobile connection to children’s school admission, train ticket booking, and hotel booking, you have to provide Aadhaar everywhere. But as fast as the use of Aadhaar has increased, its misuse has also increased at the same pace.
Fake transactions on someone else’s Aadhaar card have now become very common. In such a situation, if you want to stay safe, then you need to know where you have given your Aadhaar card and whether it is being misused or not. You can easily track the activities of your Aadhaar card.
What is the risk of misuse of Aadhaar
By misusing the Aadhaar number, anyone can open a bank account in your name, take a loan, or take advantage of government schemes. Many times mobile SIM or other services are also activated fraudulently. This can become a big financial and legal problem for you.
How to know if your Aadhaar has been misused or not
UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has provided a feature called “Authentication History”, through which you can see when, where and for what purpose your Aadhaar has been used. This feature gives you a powerful tool to keep track of your Aadhaar activities.
How to view the Aadhaar authentication history
Follow these easy steps to view your Aadhaar authentication history:
First of all, you have to visit the myAadhaar portal https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and Captcha, then log in via OTP. OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Select the “Aadhaar Authentication History” option on the dashboard.
Here you have to select the date range for which you want to see the history (you can see the history up to the last 6 months). Also, select the type of authentication, such as Biometric, Demographic, or OTP.
As soon as you submit, the history of the last 6 months will appear on the screen.
What to see in the history
In the history, you will see the date and time of every transaction, and also which agency has used your Aadhaar. If you see any unknown or suspicious activity, be alert immediately. This is a warning for you.
What to do if Aadhaar is being misused
If you feel that your Aadhaar is being misused, take these steps immediately:
Visit UIDAI website https://resident.uidai.gov.in/le-complaint and file a complaint.
Call UIDAI’s toll-free number 1947 and explain your problem.
You can also visit your nearest Aadhaar Service Center and file a written complaint.
Option to lock Aadhaar
If you suspect repeated misuse, you can lock your Aadhaar’s biometric data from the UIDAI portal or mAadhaar app. This will prevent anyone from doing biometric authentication without your permission. This is a strong security measure.
