The Indian government has now made Aadhaar linking mandatory for continued gas subsidy and other government benefits. The primary purpose of Aadhaar-LPG linking is to curb fraudulent connections and ensure that subsidy funds reach the rightful beneficiaries. If you haven’t completed this process yet, don’t worry.
The process is extremely simple and can be completed both online and offline. In this detailed article, we’ll walk you through the steps from filling out Form 1 and Form 2 to submitting them, ensuring your subsidy continues to flow into your account without interruption.
Required Forms for Aadhaar-Gas Linking
You need two special forms to link your Aadhaar with your gas connection. Without these forms, your linking process will be considered incomplete.
Form 1 (Bank Account Linking)
This form is specifically for customers who want to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar so that subsidy funds can be received through Direct Bank Transfer (DBTL).
Form 2 (LPG Linking)
This form is used to link your Aadhaar number to your LPG consumer ID or gas connection number.
You can download both forms from the official website of your gas company (Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas) or obtain them directly from your nearest gas distributor’s office.
How to Download the Forms
Keep in mind that Aadhaar-LPG linking is not entirely digital; you must physically submit the forms after downloading them online. The process is as follows:
- First, visit the official website of your gas provider (Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas).
- Go to the ‘LPG Services’ section and select the ‘Join DBTL’ or ‘Download Forms’ option.
- Download ‘Form 1’ and ‘Form 2’ from here and print them out.
- Carefully fill out Form 1, provide your bank account details, and submit it to your bank or gas agency along with a photocopy of your Aadhaar card.
- Fill in Form 2 with your consumer ID and Aadhaar number. Attach the required documents and submit them to your gas distributor.
- Once verification is complete, your Aadhaar will be linked to your gas connection.
Offline and Postal Linking
If you don’t have internet access, you can use the traditional offline method or postal mail:
Offline Method
First, visit your nearest LPG distributor’s office and obtain Form 1 and Form 2. Submit Form 1 to your bank, and Form 2 to your gas agency, along with a copy of your Aadhaar.
By Post
Download and print both forms from the online portal. Submit Form 1 to your bank to link your bank account with Aadhaar. Once the bank linking is done, fill Form 2 and send it to your gas distributor’s address via registered post.
