In this era of Digital India, the Aadhaar card has become the most essential document for every Indian citizen. This 12-digit Unique Identification Number not only proves identity but also addresses. Its use has become mandatory for hundreds of services, including banking, government schemes, subsidies, pensions, and SIM cards. Therefore, every news related to Aadhaar becomes a topic of discussion among people.

However, believing such rumors without verifying the information can be harmful. Recently, a viral claim on social media has created widespread confusion among millions of people: Has the UIDAI removed the husband’s or father’s name from the Aadhaar card? Let’s investigate this viral news in depth.

Claim Viral on Social Media

Over the past few days, news has been spreading rapidly on social media platforms. According to the viral claim, the husband’s or father’s name will no longer appear on the Aadhaar card. Many users shared screenshots and videos claiming that the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) had deliberately removed the columns for the husband’s or father’s name. This news sparked concern, especially among female Aadhaar holders, about whether this rule had changed.

UIDAI’s Official Confirmation

When this viral claim was investigated, it was found to be completely false. The investigation revealed that the UIDAI has not made any official announcement in this regard. No information has been provided on the UIDAI’s official website or its social media accounts to support this claim. When contacted on the UIDAI helpline, an official clarified that no such change has been implemented and the viral news is completely false. People should ignore rumors and rely only on official information.

The “Care of” (C/O) column in the Aadhaar card has always been optional, not mandatory. This means that individuals can add their mother’s, father’s, or spouse’s name to their document, but it is not mandatory. Individuals can leave the “C/O” option blank if they wish. This option especially empowers women who wish to use only their own name for identification. UIDAI has not removed the name, but has kept it completely optional, as it always has been.

Note:- The viral news regarding the inclusion or removal of a husband’s or father’s name in the Aadhaar card is false. UIDAI has not made any new changes or announcements. All Aadhaar holders are advised to check only the official UIDAI website for any information.
