8th Pay Commission- Finally the good news is here. Central government made big announcement regarding 8th Pay Commission. Central government employees and pensioners have been waiting for the 8th Pay Commission for a long time. Now it is going to end soon.

The government has said that it is actively consulting with the states regarding the 8th Central Pay Commission. An announcement regarding the formation of this commission is expected soon. According to a report by Financial Express, last month, a delegation of the National Federation of Government Employees (GENC) met Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh.

This delegation is the apex organization of industry associations affiliated to the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS). In this meeting, they discussed many issues including the delay in the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. Let us tell you that the 8th Pay Commission was announced in January this year and since then there has been no significant progress in it. Employees are eagerly waiting especially for the appointment of the main members of the commission and the final outline of the Terms of Reference (ToR).

In the meeting with the minister, the delegation raised many important issues. Many issues were discussed such as delay in 8th Pay Commission, abolition of National Pension System (NPS) and Unified Pension Scheme ( UPS ) and restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS), release of DA arrears of 18 months frozen during Covid-19.

Central Pay Commission will be formed soon

According to the report, Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh assured that the 8th Central Pay Commission will be constituted soon. The minister assured the delegation that the commission will be announced soon and immediately arranged a meeting with the Pension Secretary to restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Other issues such as increasing compassionate appointments, cadre review of employees, and ensuring regular JCM meetings were also raised in the meeting. Some demands were noted for consideration. The delegation also submitted a detailed memorandum covering the pending major demands of government employees.

Actually, the income of government employees and pensioners is decided through a new pay commission every 10 years. Last time, the 7th Pay Commission was implemented. Now, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to provide a big benefit to the employees in basic salary, allowances and pension.
