8th Pay Commission: The central government on Tuesday approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. Retired Justice Ranjana Desai will chair it. The commission will submit its recommendations over the next few months after consulting with various ministries, employee organizations, and experts. Under this, a new fitment factor will be established for employees and pensioners, which is likely to lead to significant changes in their salaries and pensions.
Salary hike will be decided by fitment factor
According to experts, this time the fitment factor could be between 1.8 to 2.46. If a factor of 1.8 is applied, the basic salary of Level-1 employees (such as peons, assistants, etc.) will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 32,400. However, with the implementation of every new Pay Commission, dearness allowance (DA) is reduced to zero, due to which the actual increase is somewhat less. Currently, the total salary of Level-1 employees, including 58 percent DA and HRA, is around Rs 29,000, which will give an actual increase of about 13 percent at a factor of 1.8.
Experts estimate that a 2.46
fitment factor would increase salaries by approximately 14%, while a 2.15 fitment factor could increase salaries by 34%. At the highest level, applying a 2.46 fitment factor could increase basic pay from Rs 18,000 to Rs 44,280, a jump of approximately 54%. However, this figure only reflects the basic salary; the difference would be slightly lower after adding other allowances to the actual salary. India is not going to bow down to anyone, yet another proof of this has been found. This report will only make Trump even more upset.
Millions of employees and pensioners expect relief
The recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission could bring significant relief to Level 1 employees and pensioners of the central government. Assistants, peons, and support staff in government offices will receive significant pay increases after a long time. Experts believe the commission’s report could be submitted to the government by early 2026, after which the new pay scales are likely to be implemented. This government announcement could be significant news for millions of employees in the coming months.
