8th Pay Commission Update: If you are a central government employee or pensioner, this information is crucial for you. A significant process concerning the 8th Pay Commission is currently nearing completion. The government established the Pay Commission last year, and the official website for the 8th Pay Commission was launched in February this year. Now, let’s delve into which process is reaching its final stages and why it matters for central government employees.

Deadline to respond to 18 questions

In fact, the Pay Commission has published a detailed questionnaire consisting of 18 questions on the MyGov.in portal. This questionnaire invites suggestions from central employees, pensioners, organizations, and the general public regarding salary structures, allowances, pensions, and service conditions. The deadline for submitting responses to this questionnaire is Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

This means you have just 5 days left to share your suggestions. If you are a central government employee, union territory employee, judicial officer, court officer-employee, member of regulatory bodies, association of serving or retired employees, pensioner, researcher, academician, or anyone else, this is an important opportunity for you.

It’s important to note that this questionnaire is available in both English and Hindi. This allows you to submit your suggestions in either language. It seeks input on topics such as salary structure, fitment factor, dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), increments, and pensions. If you are interested in providing your feedback, you can visit the MyGov portal. Responses will only be accepted through this platform. Submissions via email, PDF, or physical applications will not be considered.

According to the Pay Commission’s website, nodal/sub-nodal officers from ministries, departments, and union territories will have a separate link for submissions. However, if you also wish to provide suggestions to the Pay Commission, please log in to the MyGov portal and complete your form by March 31, 2026. Registration is straightforward using a mobile number or email.

The Eighth Pay Commission has been a long-standing demand. The Seventh Pay Commission’s term was to last until December 31, 2025. However, the Eighth Pay Commission was formed before that date in November 2025. Meanwhile, the government first announced the formation of a Pay Commission in January 2025. The Pay Commission’s recommendations are expected to be submitted to the government by 2027. The effective date is assumed to be January 1, 2026, with possible provision for arrears.
