This saves your time and keeps you away from legal trouble. If your challan has gone to court, don’t panic. Here’s how to settle it online without stepping outside.
What is Virtual Court
Virtual Court is part of the Indian government’s e-Courts project. It’s designed to make the justice system more digital and accessible. Through this platform, you can check traffic challan details, pay fines, and even contest the challan—all online. You don’t need to visit the physical court anymore, making the process faster and more convenient.
How to Pay Challan Online
If your challan is more than 60 days old and has moved to Virtual Court, the process to pay it is simple. Visit https://vcourts.gov.in. Choose the state where your vehicle is registered. Then search your challan using your mobile number, vehicle number, challan number, or CNR number.
View and Confirm Challan Details
After entering the required information and the captcha, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Once logged in, you can view your challan details by clicking on the “View” button. Here, you’ll see the total fine amount. Select the option “I wish to pay the proposed fine” and proceed with the payment.
Make Payment and Get Receipt
You can pay using Net Banking, UPI, debit card, or credit card. As soon as the payment is successful, a digital receipt will be issued. This receipt can be downloaded immediately or later by logging in again. This quick and transparent process saves you a trip to the court.
What If You Don’t Pay Within 90 Days
If the challan remains unpaid even after 90 days, it will be forwarded to the district court. In that case, you’ll have to appear in person and the matter may take a legal route. To avoid legal hassles and court visits, it’s better to pay your challan on time.
