Bank Holiday: Will Banks Remain Closed on Dhanteras? Check Holiday List

Bank Holiday: The month of November is just around the corner. The first ten days of this month feature several significant festivals, including Dhanteras and Diwali. This raises the question of whether banks will be closed during this time. Let’s review the bank holiday schedule for November 1st through 8th.

Banks will be closed during the week from November 1st to 8th

November 1: Sunday, which is a regular weekly holiday.

November 2: Only the bank branches in Shillong will be closed on Monday due to the Nongkrem Dance Festival.

November 3: Tuesday will be a regular working day for banks throughout the country.

November 4: Wednesday will also be a normal working day for banks nationwide.

November 5: Thursday will continue to be a regular working day for banks across the country.

November 6: Dhanteras occurs on Friday, but all public and private sector banks will function normally in Delhi and most other states. Traditionally, people buy gold, silver, and new household items on Dhanteras. Many worship Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kubera, and Lord Dhanvantari on this day.

November 7: Although Choti Diwali is on Saturday, it will still be a regular working day for banks across the nation.

November 8: Sunday is a weekly holiday, coinciding with the day of Lakshmi Pujan during Diwali.

That being said, there are no national holidays during this week, so customers should check their local holiday calendar before heading to their bank branch. While branch-related services like cash deposits and check processing will be unavailable on holidays, customers can easily perform their financial transactions through internet banking, ATMs, and UPI.

Banking services that continue to operate during holidays

Essential banking services are available nationwide, even when bank branches are closed. For instance, online banking services remain accessible across the country during bank holidays, ensuring that customers can enjoy uninterrupted banking services. Customers can utilize these services to carry out their financial transactions with ease.

During this time, anyone can use UPI or their bank’s app to make payments or receive money. These services operate 24 hours a day, whether banks are open or closed. Occasionally, scheduled maintenance may cause temporary outages, which the bank will inform you of. Fund transfers can also be made using NEFT/RTGS transfer forms, demand draft (DD) request forms, and checkbook forms. Credit, debit, and ATM cards will also continue to function.
