Mahindra XUV 3XO

Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel is priced at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV comes with a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that churns out 117 PS power and 300 Nm torque, the most in its segment. It has the option of either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT. It does a good balancing act between power and fuel efficiency and can be driven both on city roads and highways.

Kia Sonet

Kia Sonet diesel too begins at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It employs a 1.5-litre CRDi engine and has 114 bhp of power and 250 Nm torque. Sonet is unique in providing a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with diesel, while most competitors do not. There is also a 6-speed manual available. Its peak mileage is 24.1 kmpl, which makes it one of the leaders in this segment.

Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon diesel starts at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre Revotorq engine, which generates 113 bhp power and 260 Nm torque. Customers can opt for a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT. The manual offers 23.23 kmpl, while the AMT provides slightly better 24.08 kmpl. Nexon packs design, features, and efficiency in a good deal.

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai Venue diesel starts at ₹10.80 lakh (ex-showroom). It shares the same 1.5-litre CRDi engine with the Sonet, producing 114 bhp and 250 Nm torque. Unlike Sonet, it is only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Its mileage is rated at 24.2 kmpl, which is the highest among all five SUVs listed.
