SUVs: The Indian compact SUV segment experienced varied performances in July 2025. While certain models posted declining sales, others were able to increase sales in the face of stiff competition. Brezza from Maruti Suzuki remained in the top position, and Fronx had a consistent upward trend.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Brezza was again the number one selling compact SUV during July 2025 with sales of 14,065 units. This was down 4% from last year. Down though it may have been, its economic engine, robust brand equity, and extensive Arena dealer network continued to place it first in the segment.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
The Fronx took the second position with 12,872 units sold, an 18% increase year on year. Its attractive design, decent features, and well-balanced performance have contributed to its growing popularity. The consistent growth of the Fronx reflects the resilience of Maruti Suzuki in the compact SUV segment.
Tata Nexon
The Nexon held the third spot with 12,825 units sold, an 8% decline compared to last year. It is still a feature-packed SUV with a 5-star safety rating, which appeals to those who value safety and technology.
Tata Punch
The Punch ranked fourth with 10,785 units sold, year-on-year down 33%. Though decreasing, it still finds takers for its small but efficient SUV. A face-lift with design and interior refinements is on the anvil.
Hyundai Venue
The Venue sold 8,054 units in July 2025, down 9%. Popular for premium interiors and being available with several engines, it is still a key pick for city and highway cruising.
Kia Sonet
Most closely followed by the Venue, the Sonet sold 7,627 units, 19% lower year-on-year. It still retains a fashionable look, well-equipped cabins, and robust brand presence.
Mahindra XUV 3XO
The XUV 3XO finished seventh with 7,238 units, down 28% on last year. Though it provides competitive features and performance, higher competition in the segment has hampered its market share.
Hyundai Exter
The Exter in July 2025 saw sales of 5,075, a fall of 16%. It is compact and feature-loaded and yet continues to be a favorite among city buyers despite the dip in sales.
Skoda Kylaq
The Kylaq debuted in the list at ninth position with 3,377 units sold. This compact SUV continues to establish its footprint in the highly competitive Indian market.
Toyota Taisor
The Taisor rounded out the top 10 with 1,687 units sold, down 36% year-on-year. It is still a choice for buyers wanting Toyota’s reputation for reliability in a compact SUV.
