Tata Motors is preparing an exciting range of SUVs for the Indian market. Several new models have already been spotted testing, showing the brand’s aggressive push in both petrol and electric categories. Over the next few years, buyers can expect multiple launches under ₹10 lakh as Tata strengthens its position in compact and mid-size SUV segments.
Tata Punch
The Tata Punch has been a strong seller in the compact SUV category. Test vehicles have been seen several times, confirming that a facelift is on the way. Updates may include redesigned bumpers, grille and new alloy wheels. An upgraded equipment list is also expected, which will make the Punch more appealing in its segment. The petrol version will be updated first, followed by enhancements to the Punch EV, including better battery performance and extended driving range.
Tata Nexon New Generation
Work on the third-generation Tata Nexon is moving forward under the internal codename Garud. The upcoming model will be based on a reworked version of the X1 platform. Buyers can expect a major leap in design and overall feel. Exterior styling will adopt a fresh design language, while interiors may be upgraded with premium materials and finishes. Tata is also likely to load it with new features and modern technology, aiming to keep the Nexon a strong competitor in the sub-compact SUV space.

Tata Scarlet Compact SUV
Another interesting model in the pipeline is an all-new compact SUV, internally called Scarlet. This SUV will draw inspiration from the upcoming Tata Sierra, offering a bold stance and squared-off proportions. Positioned above the Punch, the Scarlet is likely to target buyers looking for a stylish and versatile SUV under ₹10 lakh. Although still a few years away from launch, the test mules suggest Tata is serious about expanding its compact SUV lineup.
Tata Sierra
The iconic Tata Sierra is set to return in a modern avatar. Prototypes have been spotted multiple times, indicating a near-production stage. The new Sierra will carry forward the brand’s signature SUV identity while adding premium styling and features. Positioned in a higher segment, it will showcase Tata’s design direction for the future. While it may arrive later than other compact models, it is one of the most awaited launches from Tata.
Tata Avinya Electric Series
Tata is also working on its new Avinya series, which focuses on electric mobility. Though not under ₹10 lakh, these models will highlight Tata’s shift toward sustainable solutions. The futuristic design and advanced battery technology of the Avinya will place Tata among leading EV manufacturers in India. This shows the brand’s commitment to offering a wide mix of ICE, hybrid and electric SUVs across price ranges.
