India’s fastest EVs: Once upon a time, it was all fantasy to reach 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds by anything other than a luxury sedan or top-end SUV. Those days are gone. Three of the quickest electric SUVs are now available in India, all of which are domestically produced and firmly within the budgets of regular customers. The Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra BE 6, and Mahindra XUV 9e are creating history with their speed and affordability.
Tata Harrier EV
Launched on 3rd June 2025, Tata Harrier EV has emerged as the company’s fastest electric vehicle to date. It can reach 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Tata Harrier EV begins at ₹21.49 lakh and extends up to ₹27.05 lakh. It is offered with two battery packs – 65 kWh and 75 kWh – with a certified range of 627 km (ARAI).
Based on Tata’s Gen-2 EV architecture, it has provision for dual motor configuration and all-wheel drive capability. This improves acceleration, provides great grip and maintains SUV usability. It has been positioned by Tata as a not only eco-friendly option, but also as a bold and dynamic vehicle to drive.
Mahindra XUV 9e
Mahindra XUV 9e was already released earlier this year in 2025 and has already made a niche for itself as an EV performance car. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a whopping 6.7 seconds, providing excitement as well as practicality. It is priced in the range of ₹21.90 lakh and ₹30.50 lakh and comes with 59 kWh as well as 79 kWh batteries, providing a drive range of 542 km to 656 km.
Based on Mahindra’s new INGLO EV platform, the XUV 9e also receives a coupe-like styling, dual motor performance and a feature-packed cabin. With sporty looks to tech-filled cabin and fast-charging support, it ticks all the right boxes for EV customers wanting premium feel at a sensible price.
Mahindra BE 6 – Daring Design and Scorching Acceleration
Mahindra BE 6 also arrived in the market in the early part of 2025 and made an instant impression. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 6.7 seconds, and costs between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹26.90 lakh. On offer in the same battery capacities as the XUV 9e – 59 kWh and 79 kWh – it offers a range of 557 km to 683 km.
BE 6 is built solely as an electric car. Its bold design features C-shaped headlights, a sleek coupe profile, and a test-bed dashboard configuration. It presents a new look at EV design and is also performance-focused.
EVs Are No Longer Just Economical
Electric vehicles used to be just fuel-efficient, eco-friendly modes of transportation. Now, these Indian EVs are known for heart-thumping acceleration, stunning looks, and great performance. Tata and Mahindra have shown that great electric SUVs are not exclusive to BMWs, Audis, or Mercedes anymore. Consumers get to enjoy this kind of performance for between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹30.50 lakh – something previously unimaginable for such specifications.
