SUVs have become a top choice for Indian buyers due to their style, space, and road presence. Several popular models are set to receive new-generation updates in the coming months. Automakers are preparing fresh designs, advanced features, and modern technologies to keep up with rising competition. In 2025 and 2026, at least six major SUVs will launch in their new-gen versions, offering buyers more options across different price segments.
New Gen Hyundai Venue
The new-gen Hyundai Venue will make its debut in October 2025. It will feature a refreshed design and a cabin inspired by Creta and Alcazar. Premium features, including Level 2 ADAS, will be offered. The SUV will continue with its 1.2L and 1.0L petrol engines, while the 1.5L diesel motor will also remain.
New Gen Kia Seltos
Kia is readying the new-gen Seltos, expected to premiere globally in November 2025. The SUV will be larger and more spacious than the current model. It will carry major design changes at the front and rear, along with new features. Petrol and diesel engines will continue, while a strong hybrid option is expected later.
Hyundai Creta
The next-gen Hyundai Creta, codenamed SX3, is likely to arrive in 2027. This model could be the first Hyundai car in India to get a strong hybrid powertrain, in addition to regular petrol and diesel options. The company may shift its production to the Talegaon plant in Maharashtra.
Renault Duster
Renault is bringing back the Duster in a new avatar by early 2026. Built on the CMF-B platform, it has been spotted testing in India several times. The SUV will use a 1.3L turbo petrol engine, while a strong hybrid option is also being considered. The availability of an AWD system for India is still unconfirmed.
Tata Nexon
Codenamed Garud, the new-gen Tata Nexon is under development with a restructured X1 platform. It will launch in 2027 with bold styling inspired by Tata’s latest design language. Petrol and CNG versions will be available. However, it is not certain whether the diesel engine will be updated for future emission norms.
New Gen Toyota Fortuner
The Toyota Fortuner will enter a new generation in the second half of 2026. It will draw styling inspiration from the Hilux pick-up truck. The interior will be more premium with modern features such as ADAS, ventilated seats, and a head-up display. Petrol and diesel engines will continue, supported by a 48V hybrid variant.
