Electric cars: With escalating fuel costs and growing environmental consciousness, electric cars are gaining the favor of Indian buyers. Some of the major car manufacturers are now gearing up to introduce EVs with great battery performance and driving range. Here are three most-awaited electric vehicles about to make their market debuts.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is entering the electric SUV market with its first-ever EV, the e-Vitara. According to reports, this product will go on sale in India by September 2025. It will come with two battery pack sizes—49kWh and 61kWh. The largest highlight is that it has a claimed range of over 500 kilometers on one charge. This puts it as a solid choice for customers looking for a dependable long-range EV from a well-known Indian brand.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors, a leading name in EVs, is poised to further increase its electric range. The Tata Sierra EV will soon be launched, featuring two battery options—65kWh and 75kWh. Both are said to provide over 500 kilometers of range per charge. With an old name making a comeback in electric guise, Tata hopes to tap into both nostalgia and contemporary green sentiments with this launch.

Kia Carens Clavis EV

Kia had launched the Clavis variant of its successful MPV, Carens. The company is now gearing up to launch its electric version, Carens Clavis EV. Media leaks suggest that this vehicle will have two battery options available—42kWh and 51.4kWh. These will have a range of 390 km and 473 km respectively on full charge. Although slightly less than the 500 km milestone, it is still the standout choice in the family MPV market when it comes to practical EVs.

Battery Range and Practicality

All three electric models are gunning for a segment where range anxiety is of real concern. By providing batteries that exceed 500 km on a single charge, Maruti and Tata are set to shift the game. Kia, though just short of the mark, still provides realistic urban mobility with decent range options likely to find favor among family buyers.
