Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV – The electric SUV market in India is now growing rapidly. While previously hesitating about EV, now the long range, reliable brand and improved charging network have changed the picture. In this changed environment, Toyota is going to launch its first fully electric SUV in India. It is named Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV, whose official launch date is confirmed 19 January 2026.

Design of the Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV does not seem to be much experimental at first glance, and it is also its greatest strength. The front features sleek LED headlamps and integrated DRLs, giving it a clean and modern look.

The BEV badge given near the front fender is not just for the show, but it also shows the location of the charging port. Its design and propulsion looks almost the same as e Vitara when viewed from the side profile, allowing this SUV to be recognized immediately.

Platform
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will be manufactured at the Gujarat plant in Suzuki. The SUV is based on the Heartect e platform, which has been developed specifically for electric vehicles.

The biggest feature of this platform is component sharing. Battery layout, electronics and many technical parts will be common to both Toyota and Suzuki. This directly benefits the price, as development and production costs are low.
Battery, Power and Range
Urban Cruiser BEV will be offered with two battery options 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh. Both of these batteries will be the same as the Pack Global model and e Vitara.

Both variants will offer a single electric motor, generating power of around 172 hp and torque of 192 Nm. This output is smooth for city driving and does not allow overtaking to be reduced even on the highway.
The most important thing is its range. The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV is expected to range around 550 km. This figure is important for customers who want to make EV not just a city car, but also a long drive partner.

Interior and Technology
The interior of the Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will see a good combination of technology and simplicity. It is expected to have a large touchscreen infotainment system, which will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
