Maruti’s e-Vitara: The wait is finally over. Maruti Suzuki has officially announced the launch date of its new electric SUV, the e-Vitara. Putting months of rumors to rest, the company has confirmed that this new EV will go on sale in India on September 3, 2025. Consumers in search of a high-range electric SUV now have one more thrilling option on their list.

Launch Date and Market Positioning

Maruti is entering the electric SUV segment with e-Vitara, targeting those looking for a feature-rich and efficient EV. Launch has been planned for early September. According to the company, this car will rival premium electric SUVs such as Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV in India.

Battery Options and Driving Range

The e-Vitara will offer two battery options. One will be a 48.8kWh battery pack, and the other will be a bigger 61.1kWh battery. As per the brand’s claim, the bigger battery will provide a range of up to 500 kilometers on a full charge. Real-world performance, in all probability, would depend on driving styles and city traffic conditions. Contrary to its global version, which receives 4WD, the Indian version will be available only in 2WD.

Variants and Colour Options

Maruti will bring in the e-Vitara with three variants and 10 colour options. The options will enable customers to choose the variant and colour that perfectly fit their personality and budget.

Best Features That Impress

The electric SUV will not only provide good looks and range but will also be packed with features. Top features include 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof, and 10-way power adjustable driver seat.

Also part of the package are ADAS Level 2, becoming the first Maruti to feature this safety technology. The interior will boast a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, 10.1-inch digital driver monitor, 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging of phones, automatic climate control, and 7 airbags for increased safety.

Expected Price Range

Maruti has not officially announced the prices yet, but expectations are set between ₹18 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). Final prices will be revealed during the first week of September.

Maruti’s EV Plans Ahead

e-Vitara is only the start. Four completely electric vehicles will be introduced by Maruti Suzuki in India by 2030. A glimpse of its EV plan was already given during the Auto Expo 2025, when the company unveiled its future range.
