Tesla has introduced the Model Y as its inaugural electric vehicle in India. It’s a beautiful crossover SUV with a powerful engine and good range. The base price is ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a premium choice among EV buyers. Two variants have been launched in India—Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range RWD.

Range and Speed of Both Variants

The Rear-Wheel Drive model has a WLTP range of 500 km on full charge. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The Long Range RWD goes an extra mile with a range of 622 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Its top speed is 201 km/h, further making it premium-oriented.

Design and Tech Features

Tesla Model Y features a simple interior with a completely digital configuration. Externally, it features 19-inch Crossflow alloy wheels and is available in six colors. The company’s hallmark tech advantage is evident in the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature. Customers can avail this self-driving technology for an extra ₹6 lakh.

Tesla has announced that deliveries will begin in Phase-1 with priority cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram. Customers from other cities will receive deliveries in the second phase.

Booking is now live on Tesla’s official website. Buyers must complete payment in two steps:

  • First, a non-refundable ₹22,220 to reserve the car.
  • Second, a non-refundable ₹3,00,000 within seven days.

Both prices are inclusive of TCS (Tax Collected at Source). Keep in mind that if you need to cancel the booking, the paid amount will not be returned.
