Mahindra Marazzo: In an unexpected action, Mahindra is providing a deep discount on one of its slowest-moving MPVs even as monthly sales dwindle. The plan is to lure more buyers in June with a robust cash discount and other benefits. The car in question provides a combination of room, comfort, and protection, but recent customer demand has fallen precipitously.
Flat ₹52,500 Discount on All Variants
Mahindra is presently providing a ₹52,500 cash discount on every model of the Marazzo MPV — M2, M4+, and M6+. Apart from the discount, customers will also get an accessory kit worth ₹20,000 free of cost. This makes it one of the segment’s best deals this month. The ex-showroom price of the Marazzo is ₹14.59 lakh and reaches up to ₹17 lakh. Buyers have the option to opt for 6-seat and 7-seat options based on demand.
Sales Performance Reaches an All-Time Low
The sales figures of the Marazzo tell a dismal story for Mahindra. In January this year, the MPV did not sell a single unit. During February, it sold only 17 units. The figure further declined to 10 units in March, 6 units in April, and merely 4 units in May. That brings sales for the previous five months to a mere 37 units, at an average of just 7 units per month. Even with these figures, Mahindra has not abandoned the model as yet, instead choosing to give buyers enticing offers in order to generate interest again.
Engine and Transmission
Under the bonnet, the Marazzo gets a 1.5-litre diesel motor, which can churn out 121 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The engine is matched to a 6-speed manual transmission. The powertrain is calibrated to give a mix of power and efficiency, great for long family road trips and in-town driving.
Key Features and Safety Equipment
As far as features are concerned, the Marazzo has a reasonable package. It features a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The MPV also comes equipped with remote keyless entry, auto climate control, and 17-inch alloy wheels that give it a premium touch.
