Honda NX500 E-Clutch Launched In India At ₹7.44 Lakh – Clutch-Free Touring Begins

Leading two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially launched its popular adventure tourer, the Honda NX500 E-Clutch, in the Indian market. This modern bike, which offers seamless gear shifting without pressing the clutch lever, has a starting ex-showroom price of ₹7.44 lakh.

Although the company has not made any changes to its basic design or mechanical components, the addition of this revolutionary E-Clutch technology will make your long-distance journeys on highways and mountain roads easier, more comfortable, and fatigue-free than ever before.

What is Honda’s magical E-Clutch technology

Honda’s new E-Clutch system is considered a major and revolutionary mechanical upgrade in the motorcycle world. To ensure smooth operation, two powerful electronic actuators have been installed inside the bike. Whenever the rider changes gears according to the bike’s speed, these actuators, with the help of a computer, automatically engage and disengage the clutch in a flash.

The most interesting thing is that even when you stop the bike completely in traffic or start moving again, you don’t need to press the clutch for even a moment. But if the traditional rider in you is feeling the urge, Honda has given you complete freedom to ride the bike in the old style.

You can bypass this automatic system whenever you want and enjoy normal manual gear shifting with the foot gear pedal and hand clutch lever. The addition of this system has increased the bike’s overall weight by only 3 kilograms, bringing its total weight to 199 kilograms.

Engine Capacity and Performance

The heart of this Honda adventure bike, its engine, has remained unchanged, as its existing engine is already known worldwide for its unmatched refinement and unwavering strength. This motorcycle comes with a 471cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 47 hp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

This powerful twin-cylinder engine offers excellent long-distance highway driving without any vibrations. Its 6-speed gearbox, with the new e-clutch modification, significantly enhances the thrill of riding on turns and hills.

Hardware and Suspension

The Honda NX500 features heavy-duty and premium hardware to provide excellent balance and comfort on long and rugged terrain. The front of the bike features high-performance upside-down (USD) forks, while the rear features a robust monoshock suspension. This suspension setup easily absorbs even the largest potholes on rough terrain like Ladakh or Spiti.

For enhanced road grip, the bike comes with lightweight and durable 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, providing excellent off-road stability. For super-safe braking, it features an advanced dual-channel ABS. The front features 296mm twin disc brakes with Nissin calipers, and the rear features a 240mm disc brake with a single-piston caliper, which ensures quick and safe stopping even at high speeds.

In terms of features, Honda has kept this bike simple and practical rather than overloaded with unnecessary gadgets. The dashboard features a beautiful 5-inch color TFT display, which clearly displays all the necessary information to the rider even in bright sunlight. The included switchgear is robust and durable.

In terms of electronic assistance, this tour bike doesn’t offer many riding modes or complex features. To ensure safety, it only offers dual-channel ABS and a disengaged traction control system, which prevents tire slippage on wet or sandy roads. It retains the traditional cable-operated throttle, giving off-road enthusiasts excellent and precise control over the bike.
