Hybrid SUVs: In the coming 12 months, the Indian automobile market will witness a big thrust towards hybrid cars. Previously, firms were concentrating on electric cars, but now numerous brands are moving to hybrids. They are cheaper than full EVs, provide great mileage, and eliminate the fear of recharging on long distances. For everyday use, they are proving to be a better option. That is why five new hybrid SUVs are all ready to hit the market soon.

Maruti Escudo

Maruti is about to launch its new mid-size SUV, the Y17 Escudo, on 3rd September. It will be based on the Grand Vitara and offered with a 1.5L petrol engine, strong hybrid, and CNG variant. This SUV will go head-to-head against Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will have more than one powertrain option and hence should appeal to a broad audience.

Mahindra XUV 3XO Hybrid

Mahindra is also foraying into the hybrid space with the XUV 3XO Hybrid. It is developed on the NU_IQ platform, and this SUV might come in 2026. It indicates Mahindra’s unabashed intent to build its portfolio in the hybrid car segment. Buyers in search of a next-gen compact SUV might find it an attractive choice upon launch.

Renault Duster Hybrid

Renault is going all out with the return of its Duster in a hybrid variant. Scheduled for a 2026 release, the SUV will be built on the CMF-B platform. It will have a 1.6L petrol engine combined with two electric motors. With this combination, Renault hopes to offer a mix of power and fuel efficiency.

Honda Elevate Hybrid

Honda is launching its successful hybrid technology into SUVs. The Elevate Hybrid will hit the road in 2026. It will be produced locally at Tapukara in Rajasthan. With Honda’s reliable engineering and hybrid fuel efficiency, this SUV is set to emerge as a powerful option for city commuters as well as highway drivers.

Maruti Fronx Hybrid

The most highly anticipated launch is the Maruti Fronx Hybrid. Expected in 2026, this facelift model will feature Maruti’s in-house developed series hybrid engine. It will combine a 1.2L Z12E petrol engine with electric motors, where the petrol engine only charges the battery. The estimated mileage is between 35 and 40 kmpl, which could set a new benchmark in fuel efficiency. For customers looking at savings and performance together, this car could be a true game changer.
