Maruti e-Vitara
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV, e-Vitara, will be seen running on Indian roads by September this year. This car was first introduced in a grand manner at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. However, due to some problems related to battery supply and software, its delivery has been delayed a bit. The company has clearly stated that most of the units produced this year will be used for export.

The e-Vitara will come with two battery options – one 49 kWh and the other 61 kWh. With the bigger battery pack, the SUV will be able to travel more than 500 km on a single full charge. This is a big step for Maruti as this will be their first fully electric car being produced for Indian customers.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
Toyota is also not far behind. It has also completed preparations to launch its electric SUV, Urban Cruiser EV, in the Indian market this year. This car was shown in concept form at the Expo, but now its production ready version has also been revealed and it has also been seen in the global market. It is expected that this car will be launched in the Indian market in December 2025, about three months after the e-Vitara.
This EV will also have the same battery options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh – and its driving range will also be around 500 kilometers. This partnership between Maruti and Toyota will bring a big change in this sector and will strengthen the EV market in India.
Maruti 7-Seater SUV
Maruti is now going to launch a bigger, 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara SUV. It is considered to be the new flagship model of the company. This SUV has been seen several times during testing and is expected to be launched by the end of 2025.
Toyota Hyryder 7-Seater
Like Maruti, Toyota is also going to launch its own version of this SUV. It will be named Hyryder 7-Seater and it will also be manufactured at the Kharkhoda plant. It will also have the same engine setup and features as Maruti’s version.

Toyota Fortuner Hybrid
Toyota’s famous SUV Fortuner will now also come in a hybrid version. This new model will have some minor cosmetic changes but the biggest thing is that a hybrid powertrain has been included in it. This vehicle will get a 2.8L turbo diesel engine which will be paired with a 48V Mild-Hybrid system.
