Arunachal Pradesh will be making a major leap in clean energy. Following sugarcane and maize, ethanol will now be produced from bamboo. This is a new turning point in India’s journey towards alternative fuels.

First Private 2G Ethanol Plant in the Country

State Minister Ojing Tasing declared that the government is to commission the nation’s first private 2G ethanol factory utilizing bamboo as a renewable raw material. The move is aimed at taking the state towards clean and eco-friendly sources of energy. This was declared at a conference on Arunachal Pradesh’s contribution to sustainable bio-industrial development.

A Step Towards a Green Future

Describing the venture historic, Tasing termed it as a venture beyond a technological feat. It reflects Arunachal Pradesh’s dedication to leading India’s clean energy shift. Employing bamboo also taps into the state’s rich natural resources. The minister emphasized that the ethanol factory will facilitate green industrialisation and unlock new economic avenues for the local people.

What is Ethanol?

Ethanol is a biofuel derived from crops such as sugarcane and maize. Ethanol is mixed with petrol to conserve consumption and minimize pollution. Farmers gain additional revenue from providing raw materials for producing ethanol.

How Ethanol Works in Vehicles

Petrol is blended with ethanol in a predetermined proportion. At present, there is E20 fuel in the market, which has 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. The blend is burned in the engine just like ordinary petrol, releasing energy. Ethanol being natural is less polluting and facilitates cleaner mobility.
