India’s SUV market is heating up with each passing year, and two homegrown players, Tata Motors and Mahindra, are at the forefront. Both companies have a strong position with a large SUV lineup already available. However, they are not resting. A number of new SUVs are to arrive in the not-too-distant future, and the launches are bound to thrill enthusiasts who are eagerly anticipating new designs, strong engines, and feature-laden models.

Tata Harrier Petrol

Tata Motors is finally launching the Harrier with a petrol engine in November 2025. The SUV will be powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 166 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. It will come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, and a 6-speed automatic transmission option will also be available. Besides the new powertrain, the Harrier petrol will be the same as its diesel counterpart and feature the same.

Tata Safari Petrol

Besides the Harrier, Tata Safari too will see the petrol update in November 2025. It too will get the same BS6 Phase II-compliant 1.5L turbo petrol motor with 166 bhp and 280 Nm output. A manual transmission will be standard, with an automatic model being available as well.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata is reviving the legendary Sierra, with the initial model to roll out being the all-electric one. Priced for sale before April 2026, the Sierra EV will take its battery pack and specifications from the Harrier EV. It might provide 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery sizes, with a claimed range of more than 600 km on full charge.

Tata Sierra IC

The Sierra won’t just be an EV. The company also intends to introduce an ICE variant. It will be powered by the same 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel units that are used in the Harrier and Safari.

Mahindra XEV 7e

Mahindra is adding another electric SUV to its stable in the form of the XEV 7e. To be launched by the end of 2025, this three-row SUV will be placed below the XEV 9e but will maintain premium elements. While its radical cousins would have more extreme styling, that of this one will also be toned down a bit but still manage to stun.

Mahindra XUV700 Facelift

Mahindra’s popular XUV700 will get a facelift in the first quarter of 2026. Inspired by the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the updated SUV will feature a refreshed design and a more advanced cabin. Under the hood, the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines will continue unchanged.
