Maruti Baleno: Maruti Suzuki Baleno remains top of the premium hatchback segment in terms of demand and increasing monthly sales. Particularly after receiving a 4-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test and the inclusion of 6 airbags, it has become even more popular. Baleno alone sold 12,600 units in July 2025 and was ranked 10th among the top 10 best-selling cars in India. Its base ex-showroom price is ₹6.70 lakh, which provides a good value-for-money proposition.
Sales Performance in 2025
In the initial 10 months of the financial year 2025, i.e., from April 2024 to January 2025, Baleno registered a remarkable sales performance of 1,39,324 units. It became one of the highest-selling models in the nation. Indeed, it outsold more established models like Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti Dzire, Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, and Hyundai Venue. This steady performance indicates its dominant position within its segment as well as in India’s competitive automobile market.
Engine and Performance
Baleno has a 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12N petrol engine that makes 83bhp. It also has a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with 90bhp on offer. The buyer has the option of manual and automatic gearbox. In CNG trim, it has a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with 78ps power and 99Nm torque, which is efficient to drive with a smooth ride.
Interior Features
With a length of 3990mm, 1745mm width, 1500mm height, and a wheelbase of 2520mm, the Baleno offers ample cabin space. The AC vents have been given a new design for a refreshing appearance. It comes with a free-standing 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 360-degree camera makes it more convenient and premium inside the cabin.
Advanced Safety Features
Baleno now features safety add-ons like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill-Start Assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, and 360-degree camera. Baleno has been given a 4-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP. Baleno is offered in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha – to suit diverse purchasing preferences.
