It is said that when Lord Krishna was performing his childhood pranks in Gokul, Lord Shiva also assumed the form of a child and expressed his desire to see him. However, Mother Yashoda refused to allow any strangers near Krishna. Consequently, Lord Shiva retreated to a nearby forest to meditate, and the Chintaharan Mahadev Temple was established there.
