Ladki Bahin Yojana: The process of eliminating ineligible women from the Ladki Bahin Yojana is currently in progress. Following the expiration of the deadline for e-KYC for the Chief Minister’s Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, the administration has initiated actions. It has come to light that a substantial number of names have been permanently taken off in one district. Specifically, in Amravati district, 33,000 female beneficiaries have been permanently disqualified from the program.

This removal in Amravati district resulted from an eKYC campaign carried out over the past 8 to 10 months. These individuals were found to be receiving Rs 1,500 monthly despite not meeting the eligibility criteria. Shockingly, some male names were also identified, breaching the rules and fraudulently obtaining benefits.

Reasons behind removal from the Ladki Bahin scheme:

– Incorrect KYC details
– Submission of false income certificates
– Filing of income tax returns
– Owning a car at home
– Inappropriately receiving benefits for 15-20 months

Recovering funds from false beneficiaries

The government is prepared to retrieve funds from those exploiting the Ladki Bahin Yojana. The Maharashtra government has initiated the process of reclaiming money from fraudulent recipients. A total of 33,304 women from Amravati district have been permanently deemed ineligible. It has been noted that ineligible beneficiaries are deliberately avoiding bank visits to update their KYC to prevent exposure. Reportedly, over 80 lakh beneficiaries have been removed from the Ladki Bahin Yojana to date.

According to the report, after the scheme was launched, about 14 to 15 lakh women had applied in Nashik district. However, after the verification process was completed, the number of eligible beneficiaries has significantly reduced. The administration has clarified that this action has been taken to ensure proper use of government funds and that the benefits of the scheme reach only the truly eligible women. Meanwhile, it will be important to see when the June installment (Ladki Bahin June Installment Update) will come.
