Aadhaar Email Update – How to Link Email to Aadhaar From Online

Aadhaar Card Update: In today’s times, the Aadhaar card is one of the most essential documents. It is required for both government and non-government tasks. It is crucial to have an active mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card; additionally, an email ID should also be linked. This makes the verification of your Aadhaar card much easier. If your email ID is not linked to your Aadhaar card, you no longer need to visit an Aadhaar centre.

You can now complete this process from the comfort of your home using your smartphone and the official Aadhaar app. According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)—the body that issues Aadhaar cards—a facility to update your email ID via the Aadhaar app, free of charge, is available until December 31, 2026.

How to add an email ID using the Aadhaar app?
If your email ID is not linked to your Aadhaar card or you want to update it, you can do so by following a few simple steps:
First, download the official Aadhaar app onto your mobile phone.
Next, the Aadhaar cardholder must log in to the app.
Select the option to update your email ID.
Enter your new email ID.
An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to verify the email address.
Enter this OTP and click on ‘Submit’.
Following this step, you will need to complete a face authentication process using your phone’s camera.
Once the entire process is complete, submit your request. You will then receive a URN (Update Request Number).
Keep this number safe, as it can be used to verify the status of your application.

What is required to update your email ID?
According to the guidelines, there is no fee for adding an email ID. Additionally, your mobile number must be linked to your Aadhaar card. Ensure that you provide an email ID that you use regularly. You will need to enter an OTP to verify the email address. Finally, make sure to keep your URN safe.

What is the fee for updating an email address?
According to the information available, Aadhaar cardholders can update their email ID free of charge until December 31, 2026, using the Aadhaar app. Conversely, a fee of ₹75 is applicable for updating an email address through the ‘My Aadhaar’ portal or at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. It is highly recommended to verify this information on the official UIDAI website before submitting an application.
