There is great news for ration card holders. If you have a ration card, then let us inform you that the government has issued a special guideline regarding the distribution of food items. The government has made e-KYC mandatory for all cardholders receiving ration under the National Food Security Act. The government has instructed everyone to do this by February 28, 2026. If you do not do this, then there will be no end to the problem.
You will not get free ration after February 28!
As per the instructions of the Food and Consumer Protection Department, if the beneficiaries do not complete their e-KYC by February 28, then their free ration may be stopped. This means that if you do not complete the e-KYC of your ration card by February 28, then you will not get free ration from the government. Don’t worry, in today’s article, I will tell you how you can easily complete the e-KYC of your ration card from home.
Why is e-KYC necessary?
The primary objective of e-KYC is to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach only the right and eligible beneficiaries. Often, the list contains names of people who are no longer eligible. Through Aadhaar verification, the government aims to make the distribution system transparent by removing fake or ineligible beneficiaries. In the coming days, the government will ensure that poor families get their benefits properly.
How to do E-KYC from home?
- Visit your state’s Public Distribution System (PDS) portal.
- Here, select the option ‘Link Aadhaar With Ration Card’ or ‘E-KYC’.
- After this, enter your ration card number and Aadhaar number.
- An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number and after entering the OTP, the E-KYC process will be completed.
How to update offline?
If someone is unable to complete the process online, they can visit their nearest ration dealer shop and fill their e-KYC. You can bring copies of the Aadhaar cards of all the family members with you. Biometric verification will be done by placing your thumbprint on the dealer’s e-POS machine. Please note that there is no fee for this process.
