Monsoon Update – Heavy Rain Warning Issued for These States in 12 Hours, Fog to Engulf These Areas

Monsoon Update: Temperatures across the country have gradually begun to rise, with many parts experiencing heat. Did you know that the changing weather is poised to raise tensions once again? The weather is expected to deteriorate in the next 12 hours, leading to rain in many areas.

Rain and storms may cause inconvenience to pedestrians. Normal life is also expected to be affected. Furthermore, a new update has been issued for travellers travelling to hilly states.

Snowfall in many parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh has caused temperatures to drop below freezing. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for several states across the country. Find out more about the weather in these states below.

Rain Warning in These States

According to the IMD, a rain warning has been issued for 10 states from February 17th to 19th. Rainfall is expected in states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and several areas of Madhya Pradesh, the Nicobar Islands, and Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall is also expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Tamil Nadu. Light to moderate rain is expected in many parts of Himachal Pradesh on February 18th and in Uttarakhand on February 18th and 19th. A moderate to heavy rain alert has been issued in many areas, with snowfall also possible.

According to the Meteorological Department, a light rain alert has been issued in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan on February 17th and 18th. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Madhya Pradesh on February 18th. Heavy rain alerts have been issued in many areas of South Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe on February 21st and 22nd.

Dense fogis  likely to cover 19 districts

The IMD has predicted dense fog in several districts across the country. Fog alerts have been issued for Jhansi, Bijnor, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and Deoria in Uttar Pradesh.

Dense fog is also expected in Amritsar, Faridkot, Patiala, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, and Hoshiarpur in Punjab. Fog is also expected in Nainital, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli in Uttarakhand.

The capital, Delhi, is expected to see temperatures rise by 2 to 3 degrees from February 17th. This is expected to make the afternoons feel hot. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of rain in Delhi. Light to moderate fog is expected in the morning. Yesterday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 15 degrees Celsius.
