Weather Update: Winter conditions are still prevailing in most parts of North India. February is a crucial month for weather changes, as it marks the beginning of a shift in weather patterns and a rise in temperatures. High-altitude areas of North India are covered in a blanket of snow, causing difficulties for travellers.
Dense fog covered Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh early Monday morning. As the sun came out, winds picked up. The central parts of the country are expected to remain dry for the next week. Rainfall is also expected in areas like Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, where people have been advised to take precautions.

Areas Expected to Receive Rain
According to the IMD, a Western Disturbance is expected to enter the Himalayan regions of North India today, Monday. This will intensify the cold. A warning of scattered rain and snowfall has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between February 9th and 11th.
Due to the possibility of lightning strikes, people have been advised against going out for non-essential activities. The IMD predicts that the weather will remain unfavourable until February 10th. The meteorological department also expects thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 30 to 4kilometresrs per hour in the higher altitude areas.

While snowfall is expected in the mountains, relief from the severe cold is expected in the plains. Minimum temperatures in Northwest India are expected to rise by approximately 2 degrees Celsius in the next two days.
Weather in Rajasthan
According to the IMD, Fatehpur in eastern Rajasthan recorded the lowest temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Temperatures in Central India are also expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the coming days. The maximum temperature in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) is expected to remain stable between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius.
Dense fog to blanket parts of North India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned travellers in North India about the possibility of fog and dense fog on the roads. The weather department has predicted dense to very dense fog in many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the morning and night hours until February 10th.
Meanwhile, visibility has dropped to zero meters in Bareilly and Gorakhpur, making driving extremely hazardous. Besides North India, dense fog is also expected in several areas of Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Northeast India this morning.
