Also, this time the West Bengal government has decided to provide unemployment allowance. Decision to provide unemployment allowance of Rs 1500 per month. Unemployment allowance will be provided from August 15, the state has decided. Secondary school graduates between the ages of 21 and 41 will get the allowance. Unemployment allowance of Rs 1500 per month will be available for a maximum of 5 years until employment is secured. Unemployment allowance will be available for those who do not get a scholarship from the state.

A couple of weeks ago, ASHA workers took to the streets demanding an increase in allowance. Their protests turned the city into a frenzy. Threats of toppling the government were heard. And in this atmosphere, the state government gave a master stroke in the last budget before the assembly elections, i.e. vote on account. Earlier, ASHA workers have been observing a strike on several demands, including a minimum salary of Rs 15,000. In support of their demands, prominent figures in the society called for a ‘Citizens’ Conference’.

Earlier, ASHA workers had demanded that they be paid a minimum salary of Rs 15,000. In case of death while working, the family of an ASHA worker should be given a one-time payment of Rs 5 lakh and a job for one member of the family. All outstanding incentives should be paid immediately. The incentives announced by the central government should be implemented quickly.
