Why Biometric Verification is Necessary
The government aims to prevent irregularities in the ration system. In many cases, the names of people who have passed away or have moved to another location have been found on ration cards. Through e-KYC, such fraudulent and ineligible names will be removed so that government assistance reaches only the genuinely needy.
What Happens If e-KYC is Not Done on Time
If e-KYC is not completed by the stipulated date, the department may consider the concerned members ineligible. In such a case, their names may be removed from the ration card. This will directly affect the monthly ration received by the family, and the quantity of free grains may be reduced.
