UIDAI New Facility:  Currently, the Aadhaar card has become a very important document. It is difficult to do anything without it. UIDAI has introduced a new facility. Now, a different type of Aadhaar card is issued for children under five years of age, which is called Bal Aadhaar (Child Aadhaar). It is blue in color. In this Aadhaar card, the child’s information is linked to the parents’ Aadhaar, and fingerprints or eye scans are not taken at this age. According to UIDAI rules, biometric updates are mandatory when the child turns five and then fifteen years old, which is completely free.

How to Get a Child’s Aadhaar Card

The process of getting a child’s Aadhaar card has now become quite easy. Parents have to visit the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center with their child and fill out the necessary form there. At the time of enrollment, it is mandatory to show the child’s birth certificate and the parents’ Aadhaar cards. In the case of children under five years of age, biometrics are not taken; instead, the child’s Aadhaar number is issued based on the parents’ Aadhaar.

Facility to Update Aadhaar from Home

Under the new rules, parents can now update some information in their child’s Aadhaar from home. Information related to photos and addresses can be updated online through the UIDAI’s Self-Service Update Portal. Changes to mobile numbers and email IDs can now be done through OTP. However, for biometric updates of children over 15 years of age, it will be necessary to visit an Aadhaar service center.

Documents Required for Aadhaar Update

Some common documents are required to get or update a child’s Aadhaar. For identification, a birth certificate, school ID, or passport is valid. As proof of address, the parents’ Aadhaar card, electricity bill, rent agreement, or bank statement can be provided. In addition, a birth certificate is required to prove the relationship between the parents and the child, which should include the parents’ names.
