Amrit Bharat Train Update: Great news for rail travelers in Begusarai, Hajipur, Katihar, Khagaria, Sonpur, Gomtinagar, and Rohtak! Starting next week, the rail distance between Northeast India and Uttar Pradesh and Haryana is set to decrease. Specifically, on January 18, 2026, two new Amrit Bharat Express trains will be introduced under the East Central Railway.

These trains will operate from Dibrugarh and Kamakhya in Assam to Gomtinagar (Lucknow) and Rohtak, linking important stations in Bihar such as Katihar, Khagaria, Begusarai, Barauni, Hajipur, and Sonpur. This initiative not only offers great relief to passengers but also marks the start of a new rail revolution for the border districts of Bihar.

Dibrugarh-Gomtinagar Amrit Bharat Express (Inaugural Special) Schedule

As per Saraswati Chandra, the Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, these trains will commence as inaugural special services from January 18. The Dibrugarh train will depart at 11:00 am. On the following day, it will arrive at Katihar at 14:00, Naugachhia at 14:55, Khagaria at 16:05, Begusarai at 16:40, Barauni Junction at 17:10, Hajipur at 19:10, and Sonpur at 19:25. After that, it will continue with stops at various stations, reaching Gomtinagar (Lucknow) at 09:00 am on the third day. This will establish a direct and speedy rail link from Assam to Uttar Pradesh.

Kamakhya-Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express (Inaugural Special) Schedule

Another service, the Kamakhya-Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express, will also launch on January 18. This train will depart from Kamakhya at 11:00 am, arriving at Katihar at 22:30 pm, Naugachhia at 23:22 pm on the same day, Mansi at 00:25 pm, Khagaria at 00:38 pm, Begusarai at 01:15 pm, Barauni Junction at 02:00 pm, Hajipur at 04:15 pm, and Sonpur at 04:27 pm. After stopping at various stations, it will reach Rohtak at 04:00 am on the third day, enabling direct rail travel from Assam to Haryana.

The most significant feature of these trains is that millions of passengers from Northeast India will no longer have to travel to major junctions like Delhi or Kolkata to reach Lucknow and Haryana. Districts like Begusarai, Khagaria, and Hajipur will be directly connected to areas surrounding the National Capital Region. This will greatly benefit those traveling for employment, education, business, and healthcare.

Railway officials say these trains will offer passengers a premium experience with modern coaches, improved suspension, comfortable seats, and high speeds. Regular schedules for these trains will be released in the coming days.
