Farmers Income to Be Doubled, Backward Blocks to Be Developed, UP Government Announces

Farmers Schemes: Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary SP Goyal has stated that the benefits of the Modernization Command Area Development and Water Management (MCADWM) scheme, operated by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, should be directly delivered to the farmers. He stated that the effective implementation of this scheme will lead to improved utilization of irrigation resources and a substantial increase in agricultural production. To increase farmers’ income, the schemes must not be limited to paper but show tangible results on the ground.

Review Meeting of the MCADWM Scheme

On Tuesday, the second review meeting of the clusters selected under the MCADWM scheme was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. In the meeting, he gave clear instructions to all concerned departments to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe. If there is any delay at any level, immediate corrective measures should be taken so that the farmers receive the benefits of the scheme on time.

What is the objective of the MCADWM scheme?

The MCADWM scheme is a sub-scheme of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY). Its main objective is to promote modern irrigation techniques in command areas. It focuses on water conservation, the efficient use of water, and increasing farmers’ income through systems such as underground pressurized piped irrigation. In the meeting, officials also discussed strengthening coordination between departments for better implementation of the scheme.

Development work to be accelerated in backward development blocks

Chief Secretary SP Goyal also gave strict instructions regarding the backward development blocks of the state. He said that work related to health, education, agriculture, nutrition, infrastructure, and social development should be accelerated in these areas. The government’s goal is to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach as many people as possible on time and that overall development is ensured.

Review of the progress of the Aspirational Development Block Program

During the meeting, a detailed review of the Aspirational Development Block Program was also conducted. A thorough discussion was held on the status of backward blocks, the indicators related to the program, and the quality of data. The Chief Secretary instructed the officials to ensure that the data entered on the portal is completely accurate and error-free.

Special attention to indicators lagging behind the state average

For indicators where the progress of development blocks is still below the state average, a concrete action plan has been requested to bring about improvements. Instructions have been given to establish better coordination at the district and block levels and make targeted efforts to accelerate the pace of development.
