UIDAI: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken a significant step to enhance the accessibility, clarity, and reliability of Aadhaar-related services for everyday citizens. UIDAI has introduced its official mascot named ‘Uday’, designed to assist in providing information about Aadhaar to the public. This mascot will act as a digital companion, helping to alleviate questions, confusion, and concerns that people may have regarding Aadhaar services.

UDAY to simplify Aadhaar services

The ‘UDAY’ mascot, launched by UIDAI, will act as a link between citizens and Aadhaar services. Its goal is to clarify Aadhaar-related rules, procedures, and services in straightforward language. Whether it’s about Aadhaar updates, inquiries regarding service fees, or challenges in understanding a process, ‘UDAY’ will offer clear and helpful information. It has been designed to assist citizens through digital platforms like chatbots in the future.

The Aadhaar mascot was chosen through a national design and naming competition conducted on the MyGov platform. ‘Uday’ was selected from a variety of creative submissions received nationwide. Arun Gokul, a resident of Thrissur, Kerala, won first place in the mascot design competition. Idris Dawawala from Pune, Maharashtra, and Krishna Sharma from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, took second and third places, respectively. Riya Jain from Bhopal won the naming competition.

UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra officially unveiled ‘UDAY’ at an event in Thiruvananthapuram. He mentioned that this initiative marks a crucial step towards fostering more effective and inclusive communication for over one billion Aadhaar holders. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar noted that developing a mascot with public involvement reinforces the fundamental principles of Aadhaar, which are trust and acceptance. With ‘UDAY’, UIDAI is advancing towards improved communication with citizens.
